Himalayan Bank Limited (HBL) is a Kathmandu-based 'A' class commercial bank with its head and corporate office at Kamaladi, Kathmandu. It was incorporated in 1992 in partnership with the Employees Provident Fund and Habib Bank Limited of Pakistan, and commenced operations in January 1993. It was the first commercial bank of Nepal with the majority of its shares held by the Nepalese private sector. HBL acquired Civil Bank Limited at a 100:80.28 swap ratio and began joint operation under the Himalayan Bank name from 24 February 2023.
