Solu Hydropower Limited (SOHL) was originally incorporated as a private company in June 2010 and converted to a public company in July 2022 to develop the 82 MW Lower Solu Hydroelectric Project (LSHEP), a run-of-river scheme on the Solu River in Solukhumbu district, Koshi Province — the largest private-sector hydropower project in Nepal. The project has a 411 km2 catchment, a design discharge of 19.85 m3/s at 40% PoE, a gross head of about 493 m and net head of about 476 m, producing roughly 444.67 GWh of annual saleable energy. It has a paid-up capital of Rs 10 billion with 80% promoter holdings, and was originally majority-owned by Essel Infraprojects Ltd. of India before ownership shifted to Nepali shareholders.
